Gardening Project
A scheme to enable volunteers to learn and practice gardening skills with expert help.
There is an allotment where plants and produce are cultivated, and visits are made
to the gardens of housebound people who are unable to tend their own gardens.
The scheme is very heavily used by people with learning difficulties and is
funded by the Social Services Department.

Mela
A multi-cultural annual event which last year attracted 6000 people.
As it happens, this year’s Mela was on Sunday 4th August 2002, from 12.00 noon at
Southfields Park, Loughborough. The planning is done through a Committee
involving virtually all the ethnic minority groups in the town.
There is music, dance and a large number of sideshows and food outlets.
The Mela has done much to increase the understanding and acceptance of
Asian culture in the town.

"New World at their Feet" Football Project
A project designed to appeal to Bangladeshi young men who enjoy playing,
and learning about, football. Through the basic activity of football,
youngsters are introduced to "mentors" who can help give them
confidence and knowledge about society and especially training and employment
opportunities.
